Andrew P. "Rusty" Gonzales, founder and president of St. Andrews Construction Services Corp., has owned and operated electrical contracting firms for the past 16 years. His career began in 1983 on graduation from Local 415's Apprenticeship School in Cheyenne, Wyoming and continued as a Journeyman Wireman in Arizona, New York, and Colorado.
In 1987, Rusty started an electrical contracting business with a partner. During the next 10 years, he was responsible for day-to-day management of all business operations, performing work for Coors Field, Denver International Airport, and the new Elitch Gardens.
On April 1, 1996, Rusty founded St. Andrews. With little financial backing, he relied on strong business sense, courage, electrical contracting expertise, work ethic, and chutzpa to lead the company to great success. He has brought together projects such as Amgen, NOAA, Pepsi Center, Zephyr Mountain Lodge in Winter Park, and Invesco Field at Mile High. Rusty is licensed as a Master Electrician in the State of Colorado, holds a seat on the Denver Joint Electrical Apprentice Training Committee, and is a former member of the Labor Management Cooperative Joint Industry Promotional Fund.
And to what does Rusty attribute his success? "The camaraderie and friendship that everyone at St. Andrews shares is an important component of success. I am proud that clients recognize our positive attitude and integrity. And I am reminded everyday that the relationships with our clients are perhaps the most important things we build."
